In 1905 one E.H. Bostock founded the Ipswich Hippodrome, having already opened a similar venue in Norwich.

Films came to the Hippodrome in the 1930s, though it reopened as a revue theatre in 1941. Then, in 1957, it was turned into a ballroom before becoming a bingo hall.
